A busload of CWA Local 1014 members and supporters joined other progressive groups at the Women's March on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City on, Saturday, January 19, honoring the life of Fannie Lou Hamer. The event marked the second anniversary of the massive Women's March in Washington, DC and was timed to coordinate with sister marches across the nation. The march, from South New Jersey Avenue to Boardwalk Hall, was held in honor of Fannie Lou Hamer. In addressing the Credentials Committee at the  Democratic Convention held in Atlantic City in 1964, Hamer said, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired." in describing a beating she received in her native Mississsippi while fighting for voting rights and civil rights. Her passionate speech was seen on nationwide television and is considered a pivotal moment in the 1960's civil rights movement. The quote fit perfectly with the spirit of the marchers who seek change in the direction of the country.
