CWA Local 1014 Helps "Flip the House"
In a District 3 Congressional race decided by a few thousand votes, the assistance of CWA locals, including Local 1014, proved critical for winner Andy Kim. CWA members showed up in force on the six Saturdays leading up to the election, visiting thousands of union households throughout Burlington County. Their message--GOP incumbent Tom MacArthur regularly votes against working families and Democrat Andy Kim promises to support labor and the issues important to working families.
These "Labor Walks", out of CWA Local 1036 in Mount Holly, included not only CWA but union brothers and sisters from other AFL-CIO unions. As of this writing, Kim leads MacArthur by 4,000 votes in a district that stretches from the river towns in Burlington County to the shore towns in Ocean County. The voting edge CWA helped build for Kim in Burlington County more than offset the edge MacArthur gained in Republican dominated Ocean County.
